Lashings

This concept portrays the emotion of sadness, which I have shown through the dull colour scheme and the use of the colour blue. The line drawing in the top right corner is of an eye with tears falling and the lines midway down the design are my interpretations of sadness as a texture. These elements mixed in with the ice cream ‘tears’ and the blue, reflect sadness. The cutout areas of the photograph are displaying the destination of Lashings, which I have tried to show and not tell but cutting out the image. The imagery of the ice cream reflects what you can eat there, an ice cream brownie sundae, this along with the ‘take a lick’ typography signify what you do there. The extra lines and shapes I drew on photoshop to build up the design and composition.

Midnight Espresso

This concept portrays the emotion of anger, which I have shown through the dark colour scheme and the use of the colour red. The line drawing in the middle right of the design is of my interpretation of anger as a texture – sharp jagged lines. This mixed in with the colour red, and the exploding burger reflect the emotion of anger. The cutout areas of the photograph are displaying the destination of Midnight Espresso, which I have incorporated to show the destination and keep the same system flowing through each destination. The imagery of the burger reflects what you can eat there, however, I don’t think it displays the food well enough as I am referring to the cabinet food such as bagels but the image is of a burger. Even though the imagery is not quite complete, this alongside the ‘take a bite’ typography explains what you do there. Same as the previous concept, the extra lines, and shapes I drew on photoshop to build up the design and composition to allow for a successful design.

The Arborist

This concept portrays the emotion of happiness, which I have shown through the bright colour scheme and the use of the colour yellow. The line drawing in the middle of the design is my interpretation of happiness as a texture – wavy lines that look ‘smiley’. This combined with the colour yellow, portray the emotion of happiness. Similarly to the previous designs, the cutout areas of the photograph are displaying the destination of The Arborist, which I have incorporated to show the destination and keep the same system flowing through each destination. The imagery of the cocktail glass and the champagne bottle reflects what you can drink there, this combined with the ‘take a sip’ typography portrays what you do there. Likewise to the previous concepts, the extra lines, and shapes I drew on photoshop to build up the design and composition to allow for a successful design.

Artist Model

For this visual system concept, I was inspired by Collage Me! By Lisa Kalev on Behance. It was published on November 19th, 2018. I used this modern graphic design as my inspiration as I enjoyed the contemporary styles that were used. The use of unique shapes and patterns inspired me to mix and create my own visual system that followed a contemporary style. I will explore this style further in more visual system concepts.
