Category Spread Developments
I received some feedback in class regarding my category spread developments and what was said is that I am on the right track but need to work on the spacing between the lists to differentiate between the heading on the right, as there is a large gap in the middle of the page. The photo above is one of my developments so I will explore spacing and perhaps create a different alignment between the lists and the heading. I think the size of the type is decent but I might look into changing the size or perhaps trialing a different grid. These are all ideas of where to take the composition next.
Visual System Developments

I received some feedback in class regarding my developments and I brought up my concern about having quite a narrow design style. However, I was reassured that where I am at so far is a good place to be because I can focus on pushing the design further to potentially having a complete mock-up of the brochure so then when I have time I can take a step back and work on the imagery. This to me sounds like a good plan. I was also told that I still need to work on showing the emotion and the place better, which I am struggling to do. A suggestion was made that maybe the style of the teary eye could change from the line drawing to something more realistic, like a cut out of an eye. I will explore this idea and see if it works better than the design I have so far.
Where to Next?
- Create more illustrations for the specific emotion at each place and the food and drink you can get at each place.
- Look at more artist models for typography and the visual systems.
- Begin to work on the Wellington text, keeping in mind I need to leave space for the map that I have to create.
- Start to think and plan what to do for my front cover.
