Feedback from my Group
We were put in groups of 3 and within these groups, we had to critique each other’s work and provide feedback to one another. In my group, there was Chris, Erika and I and I found that I received some good feedback.
- For my map, try to remove the background colours and maybe keep one strip of colour. I could also try to create the map in a different angle, a 3D version.
- For my Discover Wellington spread, I should try moving the type to the top of the page and the map to the bottom of the page, along with the key to the map.
- Perhaps add a rule above the key to make it feel like it fits with the map.
- For my Category spread, I could try adding some illustrations or a strip of colour to the page. I could also add the textures from my other spreads to this spread.
- For my Midnight Espresso spread, I could bring the light forward, in front of the hand and do some line drawings on top of the hand.
- I need to look at the spacing of the type on my Midnight Espresso spread.
- I could add quotation marks to the pull-out quotes on each spread.
- For my Arborist spread, I could add some more space to the sky in the image in the top left corner, as it is a rooftop bar and also layer the image on top of the mouth.
- I need to add my three keys to each destination spread which could be the emotion, the star rating and perhaps the weather.
- A name for my brochure could be Stages of a Break-Up
- I need to add the text to the back page.
Feedback from Lecture’s
Front Page
- Have the title as “Break Up” and then at the bottom of the page write “A guide to… comfort food after a break up” or something like that.
- I could add the texture on my destination spreads to the colours on the front page and layer the colours on top to make it more similar to my destination spreads.
- Could try the whole page in red?
Discover Wellington Spread
- I need to move the words up and bring the map down.
- Look at my line spacing, it might be too big.
- Perhaps bring the text down in size, 0.5 or 1 point.
- Look at my rags, there is something funny happening in one of the paragraphs.
- For my map, I need to remove the colours in the background but could keep the light grey colour there.
- I need to move my illustrations so that they are straight up and in line with the road. I also need to move the brownie illustration so that it is facing the right way.
- Move the names onto the roads and change the text to black.
- The tears texture needs to be falling the other way.
- Could try that my map goes right to the edge of the page and isn’t outlined in a box.
- Could bring the key to my map underneath it rather than to the side of it.
Category Spread
- Needs some work, there is too much white space, try not using the whole margin.
- Maybe add a couple of illustrations to the page.
- Could try to make the right page a really light pale blue.
- Could try putting a light pale blue box around the regional fare text.
Lashings Spread
- Add icons or written in words.
- This could be the address, the opening hours and the website of lashings.
- Dull down the tear line in my collage.
- Make the brownie brighter and the same brightness as the photo of the interior.
Midnight Espresso Spread
- Work on the pullout quote, make it more colloquial.
- For example, I didn’t like your style anyway or I hated your cat anyway.
The Arborist Spread
- Work on the pullout quote, make it more colloquial.
Back Page
- Add the text to this page.
Extra
- Make sure that everything is on the same grid!
Reflection
After all of the feedback, I received I honestly felt a bit overwhelmed. I thought I was in a good place with my work and then once I received the feedback I felt as though I had been wrong this whole time. I am extremely glad I received all of the feedback that I have because it has shown me what I need to do next, but I am starting to feel a bit stressed because I feel as though by the time I have to hand my work in, it won’t feel complete to me and I will feel like there is so much more I need to do. But with saying that, I will just have to keep moving on with my work and pushing it further to try to ensure that when I hand it in I am confident with what I have produced.
